5/6 News…

Welcome to 2026!
A warm welcome back to all families and students returning to the senior building, and a special welcome to the new families joining our school community this year.
We are also pleased to introduce two new teaching staff in the senior building. Mr Stewart Simpson is teaching in 5/6C, and Miss Catherine Au in 5/6D. In addition, Miss Darci Innes has joined our team as an Education Support staff member and will be working in 5/6A.
The start of the year has been extremely positive, with staff and students settling in smoothly. There is a strong sense of calm and happiness throughout the building, which has made for a wonderful beginning to the school year.
Miniboss Incursion - The Newsroom
Last Friday, all Grade 5 and 6 students worked in small groups to research a specific natural disaster, which aligned closely with their current Humanities learning.
Students were then guided through the process of planning and recording a news report. This provided an excellent opportunity for them to showcase their creativity through the use of costumes, expressive language and digital effects, including green screen technology.
Student behaviour throughout the day was exemplary. The high level of engagement, listening and cooperation was noted by Danny, the lead presenter for the day, who specifically commented on the outstanding conduct of this cohort.
We extend our sincere thanks to Danny, Tori and Benji from Miniboss for delivering such an engaging and memorable incursion experience for our students.
