Meet & Greet Tuesday 17th February

We are looking forward to seeing students and their parents/carers at our Meet & Greet on Tuesday 17th February. This is an important opportunity to connect, build positive relationships, and establish open lines of communication with families. This collaborative start strengthens partnerships and supports student wellbeing and learning goals.

If you haven't booked your conference time yet, please do so via Compass. Bookings close on Monday 16th February at 3:30pm.

Out of School Hours Care is available on this day.

Making the most of our day at school

At EVPS we support students to make the most of their day and their learning every single day. Students must attend school each and every day. We encourage students to arrive at school at 8:45am and make their way straight to the classroom for their morning circle.

Morning Meetings

Each morning at 8:50am, students join their teacher and peers for a morning meeting. This is a transition time for students to get themselves ready for learning and to build relationships with their peers. This important transition time helps students settle in, prepare for the day, and strengthen relationships within the classroom community. Meetings include an inclusive greeting, emotional check-in, reminders about values and expectations, announcements and a positive primer to start the day. Students should make their way straight to the classroom for their morning circle  after entering the gates at  8:45am.

Here's a photo of the EVPS staff in their Morning Meeting from the Curriculum Day.

Consistent attendance is key to your child's success. Please ensure your child is present and on time each day. If your child is unwell or has a medical appointment and will not be at school, please log this on Compass by 8:50am.

Staffing Update

We are very pleased to have four new staff members join our team. We also welcome back Alyssa from leave.

E-scooters

E-scooters are illegal for children under 16 years old. We have a number of EVPS students riding E-scooters after school on the footpath and the road and we are concerned for their safety. We need your cooperation and support to remove all access to E-scooters for children under 16.

Quote attributable to Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne

“E-scooters might look like fun, but they’re not toys — they’re vehicles that come with serious risks. This campaign is a wake-up call for parents: underage riding is illegal, and it can have tragic consequences.”

Quote attributable to Transport Accident Commission CEO Tracey Slatter

"An increasing amount of road trauma is involving underaged riders of e-scooters, and this campaign will raise awareness of the high risk of serious injury resulting from this illegal behaviour.”

The rules are in place to protect our young people and ensure their safety. Fines are in place for riding on the footpath, not wearing a helmet, riding with a passenger, speeding, or riding if you're underage. This means that students can not ride or ride as a passenger on a scooter.

We encourage families to discuss this with their children and make sure they understand the rules and risks involved. Thank you for helping keep our school community safe.

RAMADAN 16th Feb to Wed 18th March

The holy month of Ramadan begins soon, a significant time of reflection, prayer, and fasting for many in our community. During this month, those who observe Ramadan fast from dawn until sunset. At Epping Views Primary School, we recognise and support our students and staff who are participating in Ramadan. We are in the process of setting up a prayer space to be available for students.

NAPLAN – Years 3 & 5

In March, our Year 3 and 5 students will undertake NAPLAN.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake.

As students progress through their school years, it is important to check how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.

NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing against national proficiency standards.
