New School Values and Updated School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) charts

As you may already be aware, staff have been working together to develop our new school values. We have condensed our previous five values into three core values: Respect (which we have proudly retained), Kindness, and Responsibility.

These values are reflected in our SWPBS behaviour charts, which you may have noticed displayed around the school and in your child’s classroom. Our Minor and Major Behaviours charts have been updated and are now finalised. The Expected Behaviours chart, however, remains a working progress and will continue to be refined as we embed our new values across the school.

The tone across the school has been off to a great start this year, with students already demonstrating our values of respect, kindness and responsibility both in the classroom and out in the yard. Together, we aim to support and strengthen this positive culture as we move forward.

Talk with Tails - Dog therapy

Our Dog Therapy Program has now begun and is currently being offered to selected students. This Animal-Assisted Therapy program provides a safe, calm and supportive environment where children work alongside certified therapy dogs and their trained handlers. Through positive and guided interactions with the dogs, students are supported to build important life skills and emotional wellbeing.

Research shows that canine-assisted therapy can help children feel calmer and more relaxed, reduce stress and anxiety, improve social skills and communication, and increase motivation and engagement. Students may also benefit from opportunities to connect and express themselves in non-verbal ways. The program will run each Friday for the remainder of this term and continue into next term.

Lego therapy

Our LEGO groups have begun again this term, with three groups run by Amanda and Grace. Staff have received training through Progressive Play, ensuring the sessions are delivered with evidence-informed strategies.

Each group meets once a week for a term, incorporating both structured kit-building and unstructured free-brick play. Sessions are designed around specific SMART goals for each student, with key skills explicitly taught and monitored throughout the term. These groups provide students with opportunities to build confidence, develop friendships, and practice emotional regulation in a supportive and engaging environment. Keep an eye out for pictures of our LEGO creations throughout the term!

Sports Equipment & Cubby Houses

Students have been thoroughly enjoying the sports equipment that has been distributed to all classes. The new cubby houses have now been launched for all students to enjoy and, along with their recent additions, have been especially popular, providing many opportunities for fun and imaginative play.

To ensure fair access for everyone, a roster will be in place for cubby house use. Prep to Year 2 students will have access on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while Year 3 to Year 6 students will be able to use the cubby houses on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
