Miss Mel's Message

Term 3, Week 9
As we come to the end of Term 3, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the growth, energy, and spirit that has filled St Brigid’s over the past nine weeks. Our students have embraced their learning with curiosity and resilience, supported by dedicated staff and a community that continues to show what it means to be a “small school with a big heart.” From classroom achievements and wellbeing initiatives, to special events and community connections, this term has reminded us of the power of working together with hope, respect, and joy.
We ended the term on a high with our Talent Show and Colour Run, where staff, students, and families all joined in the fun.
A special thank you to our Parents & Friends for their wonderful organisation of the Colour Run event, which was such a joyful celebration of community. I thank our families for their ongoing support and encouragement, and I wish everyone a safe, restful, and joy-filled holiday. We look forward to welcoming our students back for an exciting Term 4, filled with fresh opportunities for learning, growth, and community.

First Eucharist
On Sunday, 24 members of our school community experienced the Sacrament of their First Eucharist. A change in organisation of this blessed day saw us come together as one group for an afternoon celebration which carried enormous meaning. Our celebration was enhanced by the joy the students brought to the liturgy through song, prayers and readings. It was a powerful image of the next generation of our church, stepping forward together in their faith journeys. Marking this special sacrament as a group, enabled us to create a collective memory to carry with us and deepened its meaning by being able to prepare and share it with their peers, family and friends.
Congratulations to the following students (and staff member) who experienced the blessing of their First Eucharist: Sarah A, Ivy C, Max C, Luca C, Lillie F, Luke F, Wynne G, Madeleine H, Oliver K, Chase K, Max M, Tiernan M, Henry M, Aurelia P, Reagan S, Cooper S, Zachy T, Cruz V, Zavier W, Phoenix W, Logan O, and Kate Jackson. We also celebrate Beau F and Stirling W who received blessings as part of this celebration.
Thanks to everyone who made this such a special and meaningful celebration of our Catholic faith.
Sports Day
Last Friday, our school leaders organised an interactive day of sports fun. We came dressed in our favourite sporting attire and then came together in our year levels to have some fun outside in the sunshine. Leaders ran dodgeball, longest kick, soccer and basketball activities. They also fueled our hunger with a delicious BBQ at first play, followed by a bake sale and lolly stall at second play. The fundraising elements of the day were so generously supported by our P&F who donated the BBQ food and our families who baked and the McGinley family who donated what seemed to be the whole lolly shop. We can't thank everyone enough for supporting this initiative because through your generosity we were able to raise $629+ for our Year 6 legacy item.
Flourishing Learners Conference
Last week, Keena, Mariah, Brodie and I had the privilege of attending the MACS Flourishing Learners Conference in Melbourne. Over two days, we were inspired by world-class speakers and engaged in rich professional learning alongside colleagues from across the sector. With more than 1,200 MACS leaders and teachers gathered, it was an incredible opportunity to connect, share, and grow together as we continue to strengthen teaching and learning across our school community. Please check out the links for videos and other reflections from the conference. https://www.macs.vic.edu.au/News-Events/2025/September/faith-equity-excellence
Grandparents Day
Our St. Brigid's Grandparent's Celebration will take place on Friday 24th October from 1:45-3:10pm. This occasion allows us to celebrate the contributions of grandparents to our families and communities. It is an important opportunity for us to say thank you to our grandparents for their love, care, support and for sharing their knowledge, experiences and traditions with all of us.
Our celebration will begin in the church with a paraliturgy and then we will invite our Grandparents to share an afternoon tea of delicious cheese toasties and fun activities in our learning spaces. Toasties will be available for pre-order for both Grandparents and students prior to this day via our online canteen ordering system. More details to come.
MACSSIS Survey - last chance to add your voice!
In 2025, our school is participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings that students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.
The survey is available online via a link and PIN emailed to each family, and needs to be completed by Friday 19 September 2025.
