Student Leadership Application

2026 Student Leadership Application Process
Our Grade 5 students are now preparing for the exciting process of applying for student leadership roles for 2026. This year, the process has been slightly refined to ensure that students have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership qualities in a clear and supportive way.
After a group meeting with all the Grade 5 students to discuss the process and the roles available, the students have already completed a Google Form indicating which leadership roles they are interested in applying for. Beginning next week, they will start drafting and refining their speeches during class time, with guidance from their teachers.
As part of the application process, each student will present a short speech to both students and staff. In their speech, applicants are asked to:
Give reasons for wanting to be a school leader by addressing the selection criteria questions given to them in class.
Explain why they believe they would make a good leader, supported with real examples.
Keep their speech to a maximum of two minutes.
If applying for more than one role, clearly state all positions at the start of their speech, write a general persuasive speech, and then connect their responses to the questions for the specific roles they are seeking.
This process not only gives students the chance to show their leadership potential but also helps them develop valuable communication and presentation skills. Students will be selected through a combination of peer voting, teacher/specialist voting and shortlisted applicants may be interviewed by a panel of leadership if further clarification is required.
The application process will run through the coming weeks, and it is anticipated that results will be announced by Term 4, week 3. We look forward to supporting our Grade 5 students as they take this important step in their leadership journey.
