Caulfield Junior College had a fantastic day at the District Athletics Carnival, achieving many podium finishes and sending a strong team on to Division.
Among the District champions were Noa W (12yo 100m and triple jump), Kalani G (12yo 200m), Zoe C (10yo discus), Felix S (10yo 200m), Luc M (12yo high jump), and Noah C-F (10yo shot put). Our Girls 12yo 4x100m relay team (Kalani G, Avery P, Adele F, and Noa W) also powered to victory, continuing CJC’s proud relay tradition.
Runner-up finishes came from Sofiia F, Adele F, Leila K-B, Adama O, Felix K, Hugo J, and Luc M, all of whom progress to Division alongside our champions.
We also celebrated a 3rd place finish for Romain P in the boys 12yo 100m, while he also placed 4th in the 200m. Amelie P battled strongly for a 5th place in the girls 11yo middle-distance.
While our medal winners rightly deserve celebration, every Caulfield Junior College athlete who competed at District made us proud. Students such as Madeleine R, Sophia O, Charline E-N, Naledi P, Florence N, Claudia M, Julia B, Amelie P, Aurelie F, and Hawaiki G all showed grit, determination, and excellent sporting values across a range of sprint, distance, and field events.
They may not have placed in the top three this time, but their effort, team spirit, and perseverance were outstanding, and they played a vital role in making the carnival such a positive and enjoyable day for all.
A mention to for athletes who may not have qualified for District on this occasion. There was a very high standard at our own Athletics Carnival and your day will undoubtedly come with continued perseverance and determination on your sporting goals. The sporting future of CJC athletes is bright.
In total, Caulfield Junior College will be sending a large and talented squad to the Division Carnival, with representation across sprints, relays, distance running, throws, and jumps. Congratulations to all athletes for their outstanding achievements, teamwork, and for representing our school with pride.
A big thank you goes to all parents, guardians, families, and school leadership for their support on the day and in the lead-up. We also extend our gratitude to Mr Gibbons, Mr Van Dyk, Ms Absous, and Ms Hoummada for their hard work, diligence, and organisation in making it a truly successful and enjoyable day for everyone.
