Green Class
Jenny Halikias - Green Class Teacher
In the Green Class we have been learning about shapes. We can name 2D and some 3D shapes and can find shapes all around us. We have found all kinds of shapes at the WRTS gym this week. Rene found an oval swing. Maron found cylinders on a ladder and circles on the wall. Antonio found a circle and used it to pull the trolley.
We have also been making and exploring shapes in the classroom:
- Sebby’s favourite shape is a circle like the shape of pizza!
- Fletcher’s favourite shape is a square because it has 4 equal sides.
- Antonio’s favourite shape is a cylinder.
- Maron’s favourite shape is a triangle because it has 3 sides.
- Eddie’s favourite shape is a circle like the gingerbread cookies we made.
Rene’s favourite shapes are square and rectangle, he likes to make glasses out of these shapes.
The students have been enjoying learning our letters of the week and exploring words and names we know that start with each letter. Collaboratively we all find words and make posters about our letters of the week. As part of our comprehensive literacy program, our weekly cooking experiences support language development and communication skills. Each week we cook a food related to our letters of the week: this week we looked at the letters U and R – Fletcher suggested something RED. So, RED velvet cupcakes it was! The students love getting involved in our cooking experiences, they look forward to it each week!
Purple Class
Imesha Ekanayake - Purple Class Teacher

Over the past few weeks, the children have enjoyed exploring free painting and craft activities, which were then used to create this display. Imesha brought the Creation Story to life using the students' artwork and craft pieces. As part of our RE learning, we focused on how God created the world - and on Day 6, how He created man and woman in His image. We linked this to our MTIOG topic on keeping our bodies safe, learning about body parts, the special ways in which God made us, private body parts, and why it’s important to keep them covered and private.
