Committee Update

On Monday 25th August the club held its Annual General Meeting. Over 40 parents were in attendance, and under the guidance of Swimming Victoria representatives, a new committee has been formed for the 2025/2026 season.

Committee Members:

  • Secretary: Jackie Kapoor
  • Treasurer: Selina Tu
  • Comps officer: Miek Thienpont
  • General Members: Alyssa McNaught, Anne Schafer, Dale Eriksen, Lisa Tolley, Lu Huang, Mitchell Donoghue, Thomas Chong, Vincent Chow, Vivian Zheng.

At the AGM, no nominations were received for the roles of President or Vice President. If you would like more information about these roles, or wish to nominate yourself, please contact me at admin@ringwoodswimmingclub.org.au.

A Special General Meeting will be called to elect these positions, with members given 21 days’ notice of this meeting. In the meantime, the committee can continue to provide the required governance and work together for the club.

Swimming Victoria has committed to working closely with the club to provide guidance and expertise in strengthening our governance and operational processes. This partnership will ensure that the club is operating in line with best-practice standards. By enhancing our governance framework and refining the processes, we will be better positioned to provide a safe, supportive, and successful environment for all members, swimmers, and families.

We’d also like to remind everyone that the committee is made up of volunteers. Each member generously gives their time whilst also balancing full-time work, family commitments, and the drop-offs/pick-ups that come with swimming and other activities. We ask all members to please show respect, patience and kindness towards the committee and each other as we all work together for the benefit of the whole club.

Other roles confirmed at the AGM include:

  • Grievance Officer: Chris Bamford (contact via grievance@ringwoodswimmingclub.org.au)
  • Administration Officer: Kay Yates. Please note that this role supports the committee but is not an elected committee position (contact via admin@ringwoodswimmingclub.org.au)

We are fortunate to have a dedicated coaching team, and we sincerely thank them for their ongoing support and efforts. A special thanks to Brendan for covering the Interim Head Coach role and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the program for so many of our squads, whilst also needing to continue his main coaching responsibilities. We know it is a lot for any individual to cover and are grateful Brendan continues to put in so much energy for the swimmers and our club.

Last week, we also welcomed Carlos to the coaching team. Carlos brings extensive experience coaching swimmers of all ages and levels, including National qualifiers. We are delighted to have him join RSC. We also have another junior coach in the pipeline and hope to have them onboard soon.

As Term 3 comes to an end, the coaching team is busy preparing the Term 4 timetable, which will be shared with families before the end of this term. Where possible, the team will keep changes to a minimum to avoid unnecessary disruption for families.
