Dads and Mates Breakfast Success!
On Friday 5th September, Launching Place Primary School was proud to host our annual Dads and Mates Breakfast. The morning was filled with warmth, laughter and plenty of smiles as dads, grandpas, uncles and special friends joined our students to share a delicious breakfast together.
A very big thank you goes to our amazing Events Team, who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the morning run smoothly. We also want to thank all of the dads and mates who took the time to attend – your presence means so much to the children.
The photos captured throughout the morning were truly heart-warming and a wonderful reminder of the special role these important people play in the lives of our students.
Every Day Counts at Launching Place
Regular attendance at school really is the foundation for success. When students are at school every day, they are able to build on their learning, strengthen social connections and feel part of the buzz of our school community.
Our recent data shows that 54 students have already had more than 10 days absent this year. Of course, we understand that some absences are unavoidable - illness and family commitments happen, but it’s also important to remember that missing school regularly can have a big impact on learning and confidence.
We’ve also noticed more students arriving late in the mornings. While it’s great that they are still making it to school, those 5-10 minutes here and there quickly add up over the year. More importantly, it means students can miss the calm and structured start to the day that sets them up for success.
We encourage families to take a look at morning routines and aim to have children at school by 8:55am, ready to start learning at 9:00am sharp. Thank you for your ongoing support in making sure our students are in class, on time, and ready to shine!
School Production – A Step Back in Time
We are so excited to be preparing for our upcoming school production, A Step Back in Time. School productions are always one of the highlights of the year, giving our students the chance to showcase their talents, work together as a team and shine on stage in front of family and friends.
Productions offer so many positives. They build confidence, creativity, resilience and teamwork. They also create those special memories that students carry with them long after the final curtain has closed. For many of our students, it will be one of the standout moments of their primary school years.
We look forward to sharing this wonderful event with our community and celebrating the hard work, energy and enthusiasm of our students. It is sure to be a night to remember!

Building Resilience in Our Children
Earlier this week I was listening to a radio discussion about children requesting to be picked up early from school camps. The announcer jokingly referred to a “cup full of concrete,” but the principal being interviewed made an important point – children need to experience a level of uncomfortableness in order to grow.
As parents and educators, we naturally want to protect our children from struggles and challenges. Today’s children are incredibly fortunate that so many of their wants and needs are quickly met. But we also need to pause and ask: What is the consequence if children never feel uncomfortable?
Moments of challenge – whether it’s staying on camp, performing in front of an audience, or persisting with a tricky piece of learning – are the very experiences that build resilience. Resilience helps children bounce back when things don’t go to plan, cope with setbacks, and develop independence. These are essential life skills that will support them well beyond their school years.
Our own Attitudes to School Survey data shows that resilience is an area where our students in Grades 4–6 are scoring lower than we would like. This tells us that as a school community, we have an important role to play in helping our students develop these vital skills.
By gently encouraging our children to stay the course, face challenges, and work through moments of discomfort, we give them the tools to become more confident, capable and resilient learners and people.
Hats Prepped for Spring Weather
With the warmer weather returning, it’s time for students to start bringing their hats to school each day. Sun protection is an important part of keeping our students safe, and wearing a hat helps avoid UV exposure during the school day.
From the beginning of Term Four, we will also have sunscreen available in classrooms for students to use. If your child has sensitivities or allergies to the Woolworths brand sunscreen provided, please feel free to supply your own clearly labelled sunscreen for them to use.
Thank you for your support in helping us keep all students sun smart as we enjoy the beautiful spring weather!
Professional Practice Day – Monday 3rd November
A reminder to families that Monday 3rd November 2025 will be a Professional Practice Day for staff. On this day, no students are required at school.
Our teachers will be using the day to focus on report writing and other important professional tasks that support student learning and achievement.
We thank you for your understanding and support. Students will return to school as normal on Wednesday 5th November, following Cup Day.
Parent Opinion Survey
If you received an invitation to participate in the Parent Opinion Survey we would greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete it online. Check your email for details!
Planning for 2026
We are currently planning class sizes and configurations for next year. If your family is moving schools in 2026 and you haven’t let us know, please contact the office as soon as possible.
We are also still taking new enrolments across all year levels, including Prep 2026, so please spread the word to families who may be looking for a school.
Early next term, we will begin the process of class placements and will invite parents to share any relevant information at that time. More details will follow.
Child Safety – Entering the school
We’ve noticed some families walking through the staff carpark and entering the school via the driveway. This is not safe, as staff cars use the driveway throughout the day.
Please use the footpath at the front or back of the school to enter the school grounds. By building safe habits now, we help our children develop the skills to keep themselves safe even when adults aren’t right beside them.
For everyone’s safety – no entry through the driveway, please.
Early Finish Last Day of Term Three
We have one week of Term Three left. Please be advised that on Friday 19th September assembly will be at 9:00am with a 2.30 finish for the day. Out of hours care will open at 2.30PM that day. Please remember to make appropriate arrangements for the afternoon. Term 4 begins on Monday October 6th.
See you around our place,
Laura Caddy
