Message from the

School Principal

Dear Sacred Heart Families,

On Monday and Tuesday, our Sacred Heart leadership team attended the Flourishing Learners Conference. The Flourishing Learners initiative, led by MACS, is designed to ensure that every student is supported to thrive and enrich the world. Guided by the MACS 2030 Strategic Plan, this initiative uses evidence-based models of instruction and engagement to deliver consistent, effective teaching that supports student learning, wellbeing, behaviour, and holistic growth.

In my 25 years of teaching in Catholic Education, I have never experienced an initiative that has united every school and every teacher on the same path in such a powerful way. Sitting at Marvel Stadium with over one thousand Catholic educators, alongside the wonderful leaders of Sacred Heart, was inspiring and I was thankful to be experiencing it with them.

Catholic Education got it right on Monday and Tuesday by inviting current and influential experts in education, whose research we as the leadership group are both aware of and actively engaged with.  So it felt like we were having our own personal rockstar moments with them!!!  This collective movement forward gives me confidence.

Catholic Education really is one big family.   This is one of the many reasons why I value Catholic Education.  The two days allows you to bump into old friends from across my teaching journey.  Including two of them I began teaching with, in our small portables - without air conditioning - 25 years ago in Frankston!

Spotting them across the crowd felt like meeting up with old friends, with huge hugs and laughter reminding me just how strong the bonds of Catholic Education can be. It is built on relationships. The connections we form with colleagues, students, and families are lifelong and life-giving, and they are at the heart of who we are as a community.

What inspires me most is that this same sense of connection and shared purpose is driving us forward in our professional learning, ensuring that together we continue to pursue educational excellence for every child.

Kind regards,

Cath Palmer
