What's been happening in Year 3/4?

We have been very busy this week in the Year 3/4 room. Students have completed their unit on Division and are finishing the term learning about Measurement. Students have been trying to find different lengths in the classroom and used a measuring tape to estimate and measure the length of different objects. In Literacy, we have been learning the poem ‘The Sound Collector’, with Molly and Hazel reciting the poem at assembly using only their story maps (drawings to represent the words). They did a fantastic job! Students will be writing their own versions of the poem soon! In Humanities, we have started our project studying a country or area within South America. Students are in the process of researching information about their place to present back to the class. In Art, 3/4s are finishing up a piece where they were learning about background, foreground and middle ground.

Year 3 & 4 Chinese

Over the last two weeks, Year 3 and Year 4 have been on a stroke adventure with Kongfu Gary! With big moves, kungfu actions, and lively singing, they turned each Chinese stroke into a fun movement. Besides making notes of the strokes, they were spotting them in different characters like little stroke detectives!

Year 5/6 Chinese

As a fun cultural activity and a reward for their excellent work on the story Xiao Mao Zao Jia ( The kitten was looking for a home), Year 5 and Year 6 got to enjoy a yummy dumpling treat — and the best part? They had to eat them using chopsticks! What a tasty and fun challenge for everyone!

Well done Alodia!
Not quite there yet Koko but good try!
Nearly there Tom, keep trying!!

Book Review by Matt

Matt recommended the book Star Wars 'Original Trilogy' by Hardie Grant. The graphic novel is set in death star, Debhora and Tatoorene. The main characters are Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Ham Solo and Emperor Palpatine. Luke Skywalker confronts Darth Vader and finds out that he is his father. He would recommend the book to Grade 4 students to year 6 students and rates it 5/5 stars.
