From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,
This term has flown by and it is hard to believe how much has happened in nine weeks. We have celebrated First Eucharist, Learning Conversations, our incredibly successful Walkathon, Book Week, St Bernard’s Day, Father’s Day celebrations and our upcoming performance. Many thanks to our dedicated staff for their support, organisation and planning and to our community for their support of all the learning and extra curricular experiences this term. We hope all staff, students and families have an enjoyable and safe break.
Circus Performance
The big night is nearly here! Tomorrow night we will have our Circus Performance. We are so proud of our students and the way they have participated in the program this term and the performance will showcase their talents. They have shown, persistence and been risk takers as each level has been challenged to learn new skills. We wish all performers every success and can’t wait to see them on stage tomorrow night.
Many thanks to Maddie and our trainers from the Circus Crew who have worked with our students and behind the scenes to help us organise the show.
Please ensure you are aware of all the requirements for the rehearsal and actual show. This information is included in the correspondence sent to you over past weeks & is attached below.
The tickets have been sent home with students in the last two days. The bookings will close tonight, if you would like some additional tickets please buy them directly from the office.

At the end of the week we farewell Mr Reed. We will miss him but wish him every success in his new position. We thank him for his leadership, in particular over the last term. We also thank Miss Franca for her hard work and leadership during Term 3 and hope she enjoys a restful holiday break. Ms Julie Di Noto will begin as our Principal on Monday 6th October.
We will have a guard of honour for Mr Reed on Friday at 12.50pm in the yard. Please join us in wishing him well.
MACSSIS Surveys.
The final date for completion of the MACSSIS surveys is this week. If you were one of the families selected, please complete the survey before Friday 19th September. Your input and feedback is very important as we seek to understand our success and challenges and set goals for the future.
Mini Mission Fete
Our annual Mini Mission Fete will be held on Friday 10th October. This event has been running for over 25 years and is one that every student looks forward to. The tradition began when the then Principal Mrs Lorraine Francis was overseas and saw the poverty experienced by school aged children. On her return she was determined that the students of St Bernard’s could do something to help. And so, many years later the tradition continues. It is the most amazing and unbelievable event. Students run a mini fete. Each grade level has a themed stall. Students and teachers plan and implement a fete that runs for an hour and is only for students. Families will have been informed what stall their level is running and preparations are well underway.
Students can bring some money in a purse or wallet and bag to carry their purchases. The stalls include food stalls, games and competitions and trash and treasure. There is no set amount required for the day and this is a family decision. All money raised supports charities. This year we will support the Opening the Doors Foundation as part of our FIRE Carriers commitment, and Catholic Missions. Information about these important foundations can be found using the following links
