As we wind up the term we are noticing a lot of illness and absences.
With busy lives in and out of school this is inevitable. Thanks to those parents who give their child a ‘rest’ day when unwell to avoid the spread of the numerous viruses that are around.
A general reminder that if your child is unwell, we will need to call you to collect them.
With only three weeks to go and with two concerts, Year 4 Camp, excursions, incursions, and lots of classes sharing their term’s work with families, it is hard to keep track of all the events happening.
Through it all our students continue to make us proud with their approach to learning and their determination to keep working on being their best self.
Shane and I have spoken a lot about gratitude and mindfulness over the last couple of weeks. The ability to reflect and be grateful for the small things stands us in good stead when we are going through tough times or things aren’t going so well. As the weather warms and the blossoms form, I know spring is here and can be thankful for that. We have also been reflecting and it is a timely reminder that we are very thankful to come to school/work in Alphington surrounded by open spaces, beautiful greenery and with such a caring community. We talk to the students about being mindful of self- knowing when you are becoming overwhelmed and being able to employ strategies to bring you back to the moment. These are conversations we’d recommend you have at home as well.
The Parent Opinion survey is open for a few more weeks. We have had 20% of families respond which is great. We are hoping for more so please consider filling in. Please follow the link below.
Our 2026 planning is well underway. Thanks to those few families who have let us know that they are moving and will no longer attend APS. As we have a lot of interest from out-of-zone families, we would appreciate knowing if there are any other families planning on not being at APS next year. The sooner we know the more helpful it is for our planning.
With all that has happened regarding keeping children safe we remind parents to read the visitor policy on our website. If you are entering buildings after 8:50am then you are considered a visitor and as such should sign in using the Compass Kiosk and be wearing a lanyard. If you are arriving late then you must come past the office. If dropping off something during the day then you also need to come past the office. Please support us to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
A reminder that next Thursday 11th September is a STUDENT FREE DAY as the Staff will have a Professional Practice Day. TheirCare will be open - Please book direct with them.
Have a great week
Kind regards
Melissa Mackenzie
The annual Parent Opinion Survey is open and available for a month. We ask one family member to complete the survey using the link below. The data we gain from this survey helps to inform direction and focus for the following year. We offer the survey to 100% of families in the hope that we hear from as many families as possible.
