Book Week Wrap

Thank you for the amazing efforts with dressing up for Book Week and the fantastic support of the Book Fair. We sold over $6, 700 of items and have a great commission from this that we can use to buy new resources for classrooms and new books for the library.

If you haven't already, make sure you check out the gallery of photos on the school's Facebook page. Here's one of the staff who collaborated on Alice in Wonderland:

A big thank you to students and staff who donated their purchases to the library collection: Matthew W, Eli M, Harper, Amika, Isobel E, Noah E, Lily, Ivie B, Elise, Campbell, George, Olivia, Alexander D, Patrick, Violet, Daryl, Ms Tavener

These books have been accessioned, with a book plate added acknowledging the donor and will be covered and ready for borrowing next week. Thank you again!

Lesson Spotlight

This week Stage 1 students have been using a scaffold from Julia Donaldson's Gruffalo text to create their own creatures and then bring the text to life as illustrators. Here is the text from each class and some of the sketches they have come up with so far:

CBCA Winners

The judgements are in and the official judges have different opinions to St Mary's students! I happen to be more in agreement with the kids, but it's an interesting reflection of how books that win awards may not be the ones the kids love the best. Something that is certain is that all the CBCA Shortlisted books are fantastic reads!

We have shortlisted authors on display in the library at the moment.

Premier's Reading Challenge Closing Sept

Adventures of The Stroogle

The library has a long-established tradition of sending The Stroogle out on adventures with students who report back through a journal. Here is an entry from Isla in Year 2.
