"Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence." - Sheryl Sandberg
As the end of the 2025 school year starts to come into sight, I know parents, family, and friends like to be prepared for the major events that mark the end of the school year. Hopefully, having this information will allow for family members to make the appropriate arrangements. If there are any questions do not hesitate to contact me for further information at zane.osborn@det.nsw.edu.au

The current Year 5 cohort will shortly become the senior students at Ben Venue Public School. The senior students in our school play a critical role in setting the culture for the behaviour and conduct of the rest of the school. In order to prepare our Year 5 students for this responsibility, all students will participate in a leadership workshop next week. Year 5 students will also have the opportunity to lodge an Expression of Interest if they would like to join the leadership team in 2026. The leadership team assumes a variety of responsibilities like coordinating equipment borrowing, raising the flags each morning and participating in community service initiatives. In addition to tasks, these students are also given the chance to further develop their leadership skills through organised programs. Students interested in joining this leadership team will have an opportunity to write and submit their expression of interest during a follow-up workshop in Week 10 of this term.
Students' suitability for the leadership team will be assessed using the following criteria:
Demonstrated attitude of positivity toward school work and commendable work ethic.
A reputation for politeness and respect towards, students, staff and other people in our school.
Record of good behaviour and school attendance.
Attendance at, and demonstrated willingness to participate in BVPS sporting, academic, cultural, community service and other events.
Support and approval of their classroom teacher.
Support and approval of school executive (Assistant Principal and Principal).
