Junior School

Over the past few weeks, students in 1/2L have been exploring shapes as a part of our mathematics curriculum. We learnt all about 2D and 3D shapes, using technical terms such as 'edges', 'vertices' and 'faces' to describe the features of the shapes.
The most exciting part of our unit on shapes was our hands-on experiences when creating 3D shapes using different materials.
We learnt about nets, creating 3D shapes out of every-day objects by cutting and pasting paper nets, used magnetic tiles and even created the edges and vertices of 3D shapes using popsicle sticks and playdough!
Hands-on experiences such as these are a great way for us to reinforce our knowledge and understanding, putting theory into a practical understanding using concrete materials.
