Celebrating Our ‘Write a Book in a Day’ Challenge Participants!
We would like to extend a special congratulations to our students who took on the ‘Write a Book in a Day’ challenge. Your hard work, perseverance, and determination are truly commendable.
This year, we entered two teams of selected students from Years 7–10 into the challenge, run by the Kids’ Cancer Project. Our students took on the extraordinary task of planning, drafting, writing, illustrating, and publishing an entire book in just 12 hours, all to raise virtual funds for children with cancer.
In the lead-up to the day, students generously gave up their lunchtimes to learn about the project and prepare. With the support of their families, they raised impressive contributions for this meaningful cause.
On the day of the challenge, students arrived bright and early at 7:30 am to receive the task parameters: five random words, two characters, an issue, and a clear Australian identity, all to be incorporated into a story of 3,000–5,000 words.
Students worked collaboratively to develop and pitch ideas, plan illustrations and chapters, author the text, and provide constructive feedback to each other, demonstrating exceptional teamwork, problem-solving, and creative skills.
Both teams produced polished and captivating books, featuring eye-catching front covers, intriguing blurbs, and cohesive chapters that masterfully unfolded along a narrative curve. Their achievements are a testament to their creativity, dedication, and teamwork.
We are incredibly proud of all the students who participated and thank them for their remarkable effort in supporting such an important cause.
