Discovery Day
Mrs Suzanne Tate and Mr Steve Firman had the highly positive experience of introducing Grade 5 students from several local primary schools to the joys of Secondary school art classes over the last couple of weeks.
Part of Scoresby’s Discovery Day program, the art classes covered the process of Gelli Printing. Gelli printing is a monoprinting process, producing one-off works of art rather than multiple copies, and the session focused on botanical printing and creating layered textures. The Grade 5 students had a wonderful time and produced some lovely artworks, which you can see below.

Digital Technologies Update
This term, our students have been diving into the world of computing, coding, and problem solving.
From writing professional documents to exploring the basics of programming, each year level has been developing valuable skills that prepare them for a digital future.
This term, our junior students stepped into the shoes of real engineers! The excitement started when they carefully unpacked computer components such as motherboards, CPUs, memory sticks etc. and began piecing them together.
For many, it was their very first time holding the “heart” of a computer in their hands. With plenty of teamwork, the students transformed components into working computers.
Once the computers were built, the challenge grew: how do these machines talk to each other?
Students explored computer networks and tried to design their own. Working in teams, they mapped out connections and tested how data travels.
These activities weren’t just about hardware and diagrams; they also gave students a real taste of what it’s like to think like IT professionals. With the addition of new computer hardware and peripherals arriving shortly, we’re excited to see where their next digital adventures will take them.
Our senior students have been improving their problem-solving skills through coding, design, and digital safety.
One of the most exciting moments this term was watching them dive into Python programming. Students quickly learned that coding isn’t just about computers, it’s about thinking logically and creatively.
Alongside this, we’ve been opening their eyes to the world of cybersecurity. Through real-world scenarios, they explored how to protect personal information and recognise online threats.
Finally, we encouraged students to think as designers. Using digital design principles, students considered not just how technology works, but how people interact with it.
These experiences are giving our students a strong foundation for the future that combining technical skills with creativity, awareness, and innovation.
As we move further into next term, students will continue applying their skills in creative projects combining technology, problem-solving, and innovation.
We are excited to see how these tools and newly developed skills will open doors to even more immersive learning experiences.
