Science Amongst the Daisies

Year 9 Science students recently took their Ecology unit out into the school grounds. Using quadrats, they measured the abundance of daisies on a beautiful spring day.

Practical activities like this are a frequent occurrence in our science classrooms, as they help students build real-world skills while deepening their understanding of key science concepts. By collecting and analysing their own data, students see how scientific methods apply directly to the environment around them.

These experiences not only make learning more engaging, but also encourage curiosity and critical thinking—skills that go far beyond the classroom.
