Our first environmental activity was for the Year 3-6 Eco Warriors, who participated in a tree planting session run by Stonnington Council to celebrate National Tree Day, at Gardiners Creek (Kooyongkoot) wetlands in Glen Iris.

Our students planted 1,500 indigenous plant saplings to help restore the natural ecology of the wetland environment along Gardiners Creek (Kooyongkoot). They had a great time planting and also learnt about the local wildlife that inhabits the area including eels, frogs, lizards, owls and possums.

Next time you’re walking through the wetlands, see if you can spot the new seedlings!

$150 grant for Indigenous plants awarded to Malvern Primary

As a result of our support for the sustainability of our local environment, Malvern Primary has received a $150 grant from Stonnington Council to buy a selection of Indigenous plants for our school.

These plants will add to the diversity of our existing Indigenous garden beds (located near the Year 4 classrooms), and will be planted by our Eco Warriors at the start of Term 4.

Please come and enjoy our lovely new plants when we have transformed our Indigenous garden beds!

…and congratulations again to our Eco Warriors!
