PMUMA

It was a BLAST! Everyone was FULL of excitement and joy! It was a 15 minutewalk to Monash University. When we arrived, we talked through the rules until it was ready to go and have some fun! Two women greeted us at the door and introduced themselves. That’s when it all started! They talked us through some of the artwork Nusra Latif Querishi has made. Nusra is an artist who has a solo exhibition at the Monash University MUMA. When we were talking about the artwork, we got to express our imagination of the artwork we thought it would

be. I’ll tell you something, there were pretty cool ideas!

After, it was fruit snack and we were allowed to play outside for a little bit. Then, it was time to do our own artwork! First we listened to Nusra and off we went! Our activity was to paint some gems with a special technique. The technique was where we put salt on wet water colour it made a special effect! It was so cool! It was time for lunch by then, so we went outside and ate our lunch. After about 30 minutes. It was finally time to go inside for part 2! Part 2 was when our artwork was dry, we got to use paint pens and draw an animal! Don’t worry we used special stencil sheets! When that dried, it was sadly time to pack up and come back too school. It was so much fun and I wish I could go back there!

Thank you!

All students inYear 4 went on an excursion to the Monash University Museum of Art, known as MUMA. We left school at 9 o'clock and started walking to MUMA when we were met by Jen and Melsisa who were our guides. After a short discussion about art we went  on a tour of the art  at MUMA.  There were lots of different types of art work. There was one there  where lots of strings connected and they were hanging off the ceiling. There was another one that had lots of faces. On every second face it had the artist's face on it. There was also  one that featured coloured glass panels hanging from the ceiling, another one was the glass cabinets, there were many household objects and many gemstones. After that we went outside to have recess we played around the bird rock art .  This is the bird rock art

After Recess we went inside, we started working on our artworks. We made artworks which were water colour rocks. The steps for making them were:first roughly trace your hand with a pencil then mix a colour in a palette after you do that then wet your brush and cover one of your rocks with plain water then get some paint on your brush and lightly tap your brush onto the paper do that as many times as you want and you can use more than one colour.

After that we went outside for lunch. After lunch we came back inside.  Once we were inside we started tracing drawings onto our water colour rocks then we went back to school.
