Education in Faith

Living out our Social Catholic Teachings

This term, our school community has embraced two wonderful opportunities to live out our Catholic identity through action: “123 Read to Me” and “Undies for Africa.” Both programs invited us to think beyond ourselves and respond with generosity to the needs of others.

Through 123 Read to Me, we collected books for children who may not have the same access to reading materials as we do. In giving the gift of stories and learning, we helped nurture a love of reading and supported the dignity of every child by valuing their right to education and imagination.

With Undies for Africa, we gathered children’s underwear to be sent to communities in Africa. What may seem like a small and simple gift carries deep meaning—it restores dignity, promotes health, and reminds children that they are loved and cared for by people far away.

Both initiatives connect beautifully to Catholic Social Teaching, especially the principles of Human Dignity and the Preferential Option for the Poor. As followers of Jesus, we are called not only to see the needs of others but to act. By responding to these calls for help, our students, families, and staff lived out the Gospel message of love, compassion, and service.

These programs remind us that our faith is active and alive when we reach out in solidarity, no matter how near or far. Small acts of kindness, when joined together, become powerful ways of making God’s love visible in our world.
