Principal's Message

Wawa, Wominjika.
Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurrunguri and Woiwurrung people of the Kulin nation. We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community. We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us. We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.
Book Week Parade
We enjoyed a spectacular Book Week Parade on Tuesday morning with many colourful, creative and imaginative costumes on display from students, staff and even Ginger! Thanks to everyone for joining in the fun and to our Year 6 leaders who led the event.
Prep Zoo Excursion
The Prep Zoo Excursion on Wednesday was a great success; thankfully our students, staff and helpers managed to avoid the rain and returned to school with great stories to share.
District Aths Sports
Best wishes to our students who will be participating in the District Athletics Competiton tomorrow at Box Hill. We know that our students are very well prepared and will perform to the best of their ability. Thank-you to the staff who will be in attendance as well as to parents & carers who will be cheering the students on.
Emergency Lockdown Drill
On Monday of this week, we conducted an Emergency Lockdown Drill. Students and staff are to be congratulated on their calm and sensible response to the drill; we conducted a debrief following the drill with a view to improving elements and actions as appropriate.
Fathers’ Day Stall
Thank-you to the many parent helpers who coordinated today's Fathers’ Day Stall. We extend our best wishes to all of our Old Orchard dads and father figures for this coming Sunday!
Kind regards
