Wellbeing Week
This week, St Philomena’s has been facilitating our very first Wellbeing Week. It has been a fantastic way to bring the school community together while advocating for wellbeing, connection and supporting others. A powerful focal point for this week was R U OK? Day (11th September), creating a dedicated time for everyone—students and staff—to prioritise their mental and emotional health.
Throughout the week, students and staff have participated in shared activities designed to promote kindness and mutual support. These included activities such as a wellbeing dance party, Torture the Teacher, an affirmation station and a whole school celebration of RUOK? Day. In addition, Charlie Shearer, an ex-student and current parent at St Philomena's, addressed the Year 6 and secondary students about the power of resilience.
It was also a wonderful time for staff to gather for a "wellbeing" staff meeting, focusing on time to regroup, support each other and engage in activities such as breathwork and mindful art creations. It was a timely week of stopping and focusing on the importance of wellbeing for the whole school community.
