This week in Writing, we are learning to be authors. 

VOCABULARY

Author - A person who writes the book 

Illustrator - The person who draws the pictures for a book. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Using the picture prompt below, ask your child to write a story based on their ideas. 

Focus on using the correct writing techniques like finger spaces, capital letters at the beginning of a sentence and writing on the solid line. Make sure they include a picture that matches your story. 

At the end of your child’s writing, ask them to edit their writing. Making sure all magic words are spelt correctly and they have used lower case letters to write their words.
