Introducing Our Dynamic Year 12 School Leaders for 2024!

It is with immense pride and excitement that we introduce the bright and capable young leaders who will be guiding our school through the upcoming academic year. Our Year 12 School Leaders for 2024 are a remarkable group of individuals who have consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership qualities and a passion for making a positive impact on our school community.

Meet the Captains: Maxine Yu and Dylan Barclay, our newly elected School Captains, bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to their roles. They have shown outstanding commitment to their studies, extracurricular activities and leadership projects throughout their time at Ballarat High School. Their exceptional communication skills and ability to rally their peers make them ideal leaders to represent our school.

Hi I’m Dylan Barclay, I am excited to have the opportunity to represent my peers as School Captain. I’m a committed student to Ballarat High School and I hold great importance towards displaying our values, inside and outside the school. I love art and basketball and pride myself in being a part of these communities. Next year I hope to be able to represent each and every single student's voice to enhance their experience at Ballarat High School.

Hello I’m Maxine Yu and I am incredibly excited to be one of your School Captains for 2024. I’m a dedicated student at Ballarat High School and I have a strong sense of community through my passion for performing arts. With Filipino-Chinese roots and having lived in different countries, I understand the need for a sense of belongingness and celebration of diversity. Next year I hope to help foster a more united school community through exciting and meaningful events that                                       spread positivity.

My name is Connor Madigan and I am excited to be your Ballarat High School Vice-Captain for 2024. I am a hard-working, determined student who is very maths-oriented. I have always jumped at leadership opportunities, and I am passionate about the encouragement of a community-like, inclusive learning environment and I am excited to see what we, as a team, can do to represent the students in that space.

My name is Denise Hoogkamer, I am one of the Vice-Captains of Ballarat High School for 2024. I was born in the Netherlands and lived in America for 2 years and have lived here for almost 5 years now. What I want to do as vice-captain is to voice the opinions and ideas of the people who can't do so for themselves. I want to do this by introducing positive change around the school, whether that may be to do with mental health or diversity and inclusivity.

Taking Charge as our student leadership team: Katie Skilton, Eliza Strawhorn, Lily Brown, Sushmitha Sewgolam, Teal Lench, Mo Haintz, Tunmise Ilesanmi, Audrey English, Courteney Rouhan, Wheng Marbella, Stella Edmonston, Hamish Jones and Marley Manfordhave all demonstrated a remarkable commitment to the values and ethos of Ballarat High School. Their diverse skill sets and unwavering dedication to both academic excellence and extracurricular engagement make them exemplary choices to help guide our school's initiatives and activities.

As we embark on a new year filled with opportunities and challenges, we have every confidence that our Year 12 School Leaders for 2024 will rise to the occasion. With their energy, creativity and determination, they are sure to lead by example, inspire their peers and foster an environment of growth and learning.

Throughout the year, you can look forward to witnessing their impact through various initiatives, events and community projects that aim to enhance our school's reputation for excellence, pride, respect and responsibility.

Please join us in congratulating these outstanding students on their well-deserved leadership roles. Together, let's support them as they lead us towards a year of success, growth and unity.
