SSV Eureka Year 7 & 8 Basketball

On Wednesday 6th September, BHS took four basketball squads to the SSV Eureka Year 7 & 8 Basketball competition at Selkirk Stadium, Ballarat. It was a fantastic day out for the school with 3 of the 4 teams qualifying for the SSV Greater Western Region event on Tuesday 31st September.

The Year 7 & 8 Girls' teams cruised through the tournament without much resistant, especially the Year 7 side which demonstrated some serious depth amongst all the team members.

The Year 7 Boys side also navigated through the competition with the same relative ease. The Year 8 Boys had the hardest draw having to take on an 8 team strong competition. A close semi final win over Woodmans Hill (14-8) qualified them for the Grand Final against Mount Clear College. This was the last remaining match to be completed so developed a bit of a crowd. At full time the scores were level and the match would go into overtime. After 6 minutes of overtime the result was a heartbreaking 1 point victory to Mount Clear College to deny Ballarat High School the 4 division clean sweep.

All of teams were fantastic in their display of Pride, Respect & Responsibility throughout the day.
