National Science Week

National Science Week is Australia's annual celebration of Science and Technology. Our Junior and Senior classes were visited by the Primesci team from Swinburne University who immersed the children in a range of engaging science tasks.

Our Prep and Year One students learnt to name bones in the body, explored what makes bones strong, and identified real skeletons of animals.

The Year Two students learnt to explain how they see and hear and explored how light and sound travel, bounce and move through objects.

Year Five and Six students learnt the latest in space science, learning about planetary rotations and orbits, modelling the gravitational effects of our Moon, and used the language of numbers to understand the wonders of our Universe.

Prep students have been conducting science experiments in class. As part of Show and Tell, William brought in a science experiment to show how two different substances cause a chemical reaction. The vinegar and detergent created a colourful explosion!
