Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Greetings Sacred Heart families,

Everyday, we are faced with opportunities for self-development. At school, this often looks like students checking their responses / answers with the child sitting next to them, asking a teacher “Is this right?” or “Can I have help?” or searching for information on the third teacher (walls, display boards, etc) that will help them with their studies.  As parents, you may reflect on an interaction you’ve had with your child/ren and asked yourself, “Was that the best way I could have dealt with that situation?” or “Gee, that worked well - I’m going to try that again tomorrow!”

Teachers are no different. We are constantly asking ourselves if our current practice is the most effective way of engaging and teaching our students. We collect and interpret a range of data to identify trends and reflect on ‘What’s working well?’ and ‘It would be even better if…’ to inform us of our steps for ‘Where to next?’.

One way schools seek feedback is by asking parents to complete the Parent Survey, which you may have seen in your emails recently. We strongly encourage families to complete this survey so we can identify areas of strength and areas for further development. In other words, what you like about Sacred Heart Boggabri and what we can look to be better at.  Without this valuable data, we may be missing the signs that are needed for change. On the other hand, we might look to change something that parents, in fact, value.

On a separate, and personal note, my time at Sacred Heart Boggabri looks to be drawing to a close as Kath continues to get stronger and increasingly likely to return next week. Since this may be my last Principal’s Report to you, I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you very much for being so approachable and welcoming during my short time here. It has been a real pleasure working with your children and the staff of Sacred Heart. I have experienced many rich interactions with students during play sessions or in the classroom, and for that, I am very grateful. I look forward to the day that I am able to come back out to Sacred Heart to see you all again.

Happy Birthday to Mrs Mitchell who celebrates her birthday today, we hope you have a fabulous day.

I wish you many blessings for the remainder of the year.

Kind regards,

Mal Frend
