BOOK WEEK CELEBRATIONS 2023

What a great way to start the week with Book Week celebrations.  A BIG thank you to Joanna for organising the event and activities on the day and throughout the week.  The children went to great lengths to dress up as book characters and be inspired by the Book Week theme.  Thank you to parents and teachers for getting into the spirit and celebration of Book Week.  It has been a week of exciting activities and fun.

CELEBRATING BOOK WEEK 2023 AT SFS

‘READ, GROW, INSPIRE’

This year’s theme of ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’ focused on how reading can spark personal growth and development as well as inspiring us in different ways.

The staff and students at SFS came together on Monday 4th September to celebrate Book Week this year.

Our day commenced in our new Multipurpose Hall with a story read by Joanna and a whole school costume parade. It was great to see so many students dressed up (and parents too!) and we thank families for their efforts in organising student’s costumes for the day. We had all characters and books represented from The Hungry Caterpillar, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter and Dr Seuss to Mary Poppins, Princesses and Superheroes, an amazing Spongebob Squarepants and even the Bible to name a few.

Students spent the rest of the day completing a range of fun activities that focused on this year’s theme. Book marks were also made and stories read as we celebrated the joy of reading. Students also reflected on the people, places and books that have inspired them.

We also had Jai and Felicity from Perform Education visit our school to perform the Book Week musical ‘Way too Cool’ for the Juniors and Seniors. After watching streamed performances for the past three years it as great to have the actors perform live in our new hall and engage with the students in person.

It was a great day and we look forward to once again celebrating Book Week next year. The theme for 2024 has just been announced and will be ‘Reading is Magic’ – a sentiment that we wholeheartedly agree with at SFS. There is no doubt that every book we read has the potential to leave a lasting impact on our lives. So as we head into the holidays take the leap – pick up a book, and let reading take you on a journey of growth and inspiration!
