Art
We have started our textile unit this term. Students in grade prep have made a fantastic start on their sock toys making no sew sock bunnies. They are so cute! Prep children will then go on to make hessian stitched bags.
Grade one/two classes are working on their hessian animal forms to make soft toys. Students are using the dolphin stitch that they first used in grade prep and I'm so impressed that so many students are familiar with this stitch and are competently working through their artwork.
Grade three/four and five/six students are using felt to create their soft toy sculpture and these are loosely based on an animal form. Students are encouraged to use their imagination and extend their stitching knowledge to incorporate different stitching styles such as counching.
I am starting to organise student artwork to get everything ready for our art and craft displays for the arts festival in November.
Parent Helpers
To support student learning, parents are invited to assist in the art room. You will need a current working with children check. Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.
Arts Festival
Our Arts Festival date is Saturday 18th November 11 to 4pm.
There is heaps of information coming out and many parents and families are already working hard to make this another fantastic community event. If you would like to meet lots of other families and help in any way look out for the compass notices. If you are interested in helping set up the student art display on the Friday before the arts festival please let me know.
