Enviro Team

Enviro team Term 3 update.

We are pleased to announce that we have had $14,625.00 donated by Nelson Alexander’s Charitable Foundation is as part of their Foundation Day.  On this day each of their offices donated the professional fee from one auction to a local food relief initiative.  Across Melbourne a total of $245,581.00 were donated to worthy causes.  With this money we plan to put into place an outdoor classroom and food production space on the northern side of the Babajen.

This linear concrete space will be designed in close consultation with the current 5/6 classes.  We have already had Biofilta Foodwall wicking beds donated for this project. Please get in touch with the Enviro team if you would like to get involved in the greening of this space.

Our Spring working bee saw 25 families in attendance.  Over four hours on Saturday September 9th our 3  play spaces were mulched, the chook pen was cleaned up, gardens were weeded, and fruit trees were pruned. The greenhouse had a cleanout to make way for an abundance of tomatoes and capsicum seedlings donated by a TPS family.  Even the outdoor furniture and doors were painted.

The Enviro team are planning two plant sales on Oct 14th for the Referendum Vote and Nov 18th Arts Festival.  If you have any seeds, seedlings, plants and pots to donate please let us know! We are also planning some nature-based activities for the Arts festival so if you have any interesting ideas or seed pods to donate, please get in touch.

Big thanks to our roster of dedicated families caring for our chickens and enjoying fresh eggs!

Finally, the Enviro team would like to acknowledge that we can’t keep our school green without your support and specifically the support of Garden Educator/Parent Emily and TPS Parent/ groundskeeper Ian, they keep our gardens beautiful and inspire our community to get involved.

Please get in touch if you want to get involved tpsenviro@gmail.com

Thanks,

Danielle
