Year 1/2–Celebrating Learning

What we have been up to:

It has been a fantastic end of term for the 1/2 mainstream classes. We had a fabulous afternoon celebrating our learning, with students inviting guests into the classroom to showcase their work about different celebrations around the world. This was followed by the 1/2 movie night. There was so much excitement about the event and students enjoyed gathering together for a dance party, dinner and then a movie. Thanks to the staff, parents and students for their support on such a wonderful night!

Next term we will be investigating Design Solutions. Watch out for more information coming early next term.

Maths:

Students continued to investigate multiplication and division and put their skills into practice in real life situations. Students surveyed their class about what pizza slices they would like for dinner then used the information to work out how many of each different pizza we would need to feed everyone at the 1/2 movie night. We are all grateful no one went hungry.

English:

Students continued to focus on the Little Learners Love Literacy Stage 7.4 sounds in phonics. These sounds include: o-e as in noseo as in nooe and in toe and ow as in low.

Students enjoyed writing poems and stories to share with their guests at our celebration afternoon and have continued to follow the writer’s process in the last week of term.

What’s to come in the next two weeks:

We hope everyone has a very safe and happy two-week break. We love hearing about all the exciting events students get up to over the holidays so if you have any pictures or souvenirs, they can share with the class and use to prompt their writing, please send them in.

We will share all the exciting things coming up in Term 4 early next term.
