Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Greetings Sacred Heart families,

Happy Week 9 to our Sacred Heart Community! This week Mrs Kath Baird is still on leave but we will continue on with the busy week ahead.

It was an exciting time at Sacred Heart last week and it continues into this week.

On Wednesday we held another successful Small Schools Public Speaking Competition. The event was outstanding with four schools attending on the day and over one hundred and thirty students competing as well as parents, grandparents and friends joining  us to listen to our local students. Special thanks to the Boggabri Rotary Club for again sponsoring the day and continuing to support the development of the public speaking skills of the youth of Boggabri.  They also volunteered with timekeeping and cooking the BBQ for all on site. To Miss Morrissey, thank you for your organisation of this great event.  To our wonderful adjudicators, Mr Terry Curran, Mrs Meryl Hennessey, Mrs Maree Nott and Ms Eliza Gallen who gave up their time to adjudicate for us once again this year. They certainly had a very difficult time, with the Yr 5/6 Impromptu Speech alone having 43 entries. Lastly, thank you to our wonderful parent body for manning the coffee stall and supplying the delicious morning tea, we appreciate your support.

As it  heats up this week we will continue to give our families the choice to send their children to school in either their full summer or full winter uniform until the end of Term 3. Remember to use your discretion as spring brings changes in weather.

This week will be another busy but exciting week starting with the last Stage 3 debate for the year. Our Team A and Team B will be debating against each other and we wish them both the best.

On Wednesday and Thursday our Year 2-6 students will travel to Dubbo for the ZooSnooz excursion at Dubbo Western Plain Zoo. They are all very excited and can’t wait to visit the lions, feed the giraffes and sleep in tents with their friends. We will take lots of photos which we will post to our Sacred Heart Facebook page so stay tuned.

Due to limited staff at school on Thursday, there will be NO Transition. We look forward to seeing the children again next week for their last Transition day of the term.

The Sacred Heart School community would like to express our Deepest Sympathy to Lindsay & Kate Keynes and their family following the passing of Lindsay's mother, Margaret Keynes. May God watch over you and comfort you during this time of loss.

Happy birthday to Eliza (Transition) who celebrates her 5th birthday this Thursday. We hope you enjoy your special day!

Kind regards,

Kath Fenton
