Living with Strength and Kindliness

Social Justice Sunday was celebrated on 27 August and the new ACBC Social Justice Statement, Listen, Learn, Love: A New Engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples was launched by the Australian Catholic Bishops. I share with you an extract from the Australian Catholic Bishops regarding the history and purpose of this.

With a tradition stretching back to 1940, the Australian Bishops Conference contributes to the development of local Catholic Social Teaching by releasing a major social justice statement each year. These statements encourage the Catholic community to reflect and act on the social, economic and ecological aspects of the Church’s mission. The title of the Social Justice Statement 2023-24 is Listen, Learn, Love: A new engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. The statement encourages Australian Catholics to listen and engage with stories and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

In honour of Father's Day this Sunday, we were delighted to welcome Year 9, 10 and 11 students, along with their fathers or signficiant male friends, to join us for a celebratory breakfast and guest presentation by Andrew 'Dicky' Thomson from Boys to the Bush.

We were lucky enough to spend time reflecting and celebrating the importance of role models and the many different ways role models come into our lives.

Our Year 12s have been busy creating and discerning their end of year graduation Mass. They have worked as a team to select write and plan this important celebration of their journey at St Joseph's, which unbelievably will soon be coming to an end!
