Writing Day!

Our writing day was a great success. The Historical Recounts our students were able to produce were high quality, students were able to incorporate themselves or a new character into a recount of historical events. The day saw our students plan, write and edit theirs and each other's work. We couldn't be happier with their independence and work ethic throughout the day. Below are a few snippets of some writing.

Marcus - The Stonewall Riot

Considering the fact that I've only ever been here twice, you could probably tell how confused I was. They ended up arresting 13 people overall, for dumb reasons. The NYPD were being ruthless so everyone decided to riot.

Billi - Titanic

I remember the ice-cold water when I dream. I hear the people scream, however, I shall not start at the end, I shall start at the beginning. There I was arriving in my carriage, awaiting my new life in America.

Louis - Gallipoli

I remember this as if it was yesterday, I was in Gallipoli. I trained and trained, I was the only one who could resist the heat. My name is Louie and I was 22 when I got selected to go to Gallipoli.

Penny - Cleopatra

I saw so many dancing knees, crying villagers, I was wondering why at first but then I sprinted to see what all the commotion was about, then I realised that the queen had sadly passed away.

Book Week!

Last week, we celebrated book week and on Thursday our students came to school dressed up as some of their favourite books or characters. It was great to see so many dressed up for the occasion. Students participated in small activities in the classroom along with the parade. Well done to the JSC for organising the parade and all the fun activities.

Integrated Studies

Call to Action

Sanitation, Poverty, Illiteracy and Malnutrition are major problems amongst kids all around the world. Our students are diving right into these problems.

We are currently exploring how these major problems affect people all around the world. We are investigating world aid agencies that support certain countries dealing with the major issues and how we can help to support them.

Students will be creating some sort of presentation to persuade their peers and teachers to support their selected aid agency and help improve the world.
