Year 5/6 CYC City Camp

What a fabulous time the 5/6 Melbourne city camp was! This camp was very different to the usual ‘camp’ experience and we all felt very fancy in our city accommodation! All staff on camp were so incredibly proud of our 5/6s for the way they conducted and carried themselves with respect and patience.

On Monday, we managed to cram in a visit to the MCG and Australian Sports Museum, had a peek at Cooks Cottage, a tour of the Old Melbourne Goal AND nighttime bowling! You can imagine how shattered we were after all of that walking and adventuring!!

On our second day, we spent the morning in a workshop and walk around the city looking at assumptions we make about others and comparing the wealthier area of Collins St with surrounding streets. We learnt how to show empathy, kindness and curiosity to those whose story we may not know yet. For lunch we headed to Hosier Lane to check out some of the amazing street art and then made our way to explore the State Library. Everyone was in awe of the beautiful rooms, especially the dome! After so much walking, a relaxing movie night was well and truly needed!

For our last day, we packed ourselves up to leave CYC and strolled along Southbank to embark on our boat cruise of the Yarra River. The weather was absolutely perfect and it was a lovely, relaxing way to end a busy few days!
