Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework - Online Forum Sessions

The Tasmanian Government recently passed the Child and Youth Safe Organisation Act (Tas) 2023 which comes into effect on 1 January 2024. Under this Act the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework has been established with the aim of improving the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in institutional settings.

Organisations that engage with children and young people (including sole traders) are encouraged to attend online sessions about Tasmania’s new legally mandated Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework that will apply from 2024 onwards.

The Framework is similar to workplace health and safety, as it represents ongoing best-practice and is not time-limited or temporary. The online sessions will provide an opportunity to ask questions, learn about how to prepare for compliance, and identify areas for future training, guidance, and support.  All workers (including volunteers) are invited to attend an Introductory online forum in addition to the Child and Youth Safe Standards online forum, with the Reportable Conduct Scheme online forum tailored for organisation leaders as well HR and compliance officers. The Introductory online forum is open to all workers (including volunteers) across all sectors.

Introductory online forum: 25 September 2023 (9am or 5pm)

  • Child and Youth Safe Standards online forum (Education services specific): 20 October 2023 (9-10am)
  • Reportable Conduct Scheme online forum (Education services specific): 13 November 2023 (9-10am)

Volunteers (and staff) are encouraged learn more and sign-up to an online forum at justice.tas.gov.au/carcru/forums/

Body Kind Youth Survey 2023 - Student Voices Can Make a Difference

Butterfly Foundation is inviting all young people aged 12 - 18 to share their views on body image and what needs to change to create a more Body Kind Australia. The annual Body Kind Youth Survey is voluntary, anonymous, online and ethics approved.  It takes around 15 minutes to complete and requires parental consent for under 15's. A better understanding of the body image experiences of young Australians will help Butterfly help more young people to be kinder to their body, so please encourage your child to take part.  They can enter the draw to win a gift voucher when they participate.
