Years 1 and 2

What a super start to Term 4 the Years 1/2 area is having!

We have settled straight back into our learning and are eagerly participating in our activities. It has been lovely sitting out in the new courtyard area to enjoy our recess and lunch in the sunshine. Students are required to sit and eat for ten minutes before they head off to play. This will ensure we are refuelling and giving ourselves plenty of energy to continue our learning throughout the day.

In Literacy, we are continuing to segment and blend sounds we can hear when reading and writing and are practicing using our smooth and fluent voices when reading. We are trying to develop our sentences when writing and remember to use basic punctuation as well.

In mathematics we have been learning about data representation. We can collect data through questioning and represent our data in various graph forms before describing what the data shows.

In Religious Education, students are learning about different prayers. We have been practicing the sign of the cross and both the Hail Mary and Our Father prayers.

We also decorated some crosses which have been displayed in the church.

Our new Inquiry unit this term is focusing on 'Forces'. We are investigating the differences between a push and a pull and that a force can be in different directions.

We are looking forward to our Grandparent and Special Friends Mass and activity session coming up in Week 4 and the Year 2 Sleepover in Week 6.
