- Nerrida Prosser

The Equestrian Centre has had another great term. Fiona Normand lessons, freshman’s showjumping, Andrea Reidel (hosted by Hamilton Adult Riders) this past weekend as well as all our regular weekly lessons with the fabulous Judy Doyle and Jamie Murray. We are very lucky to attract such quality instructors to our program who have a wealth of knowledge, experience and skill.

Congratulations to Muirne Reilly, who has been nominated for the Hamilton Branch Sportswoman of the Year. Current Vice Captain Horsmanship, Muirne and her horse ‘Billy’ have made the National Hunter Class and Pas De Deux for Victoria and will be participating at the 2023 Australian Interschool Championships from 29/9 to 3/10. We can’t wait to hear how Muirne goes and look forward to supporting her on this journey as well as wishing her all the very best for her award nomination.

Also representing Team Vic at a national event these holidays is Charlie and Finley Hiscock, who have made the State Junior Pony Club Tetrathlon team. The boys will be competing in two locations - in Victoria and Western Australia - to compete for a national title. We are incredibly proud of Charlie and Finley and look forward to hearing about their successes.

This a reminder to all boarders that the Equestrian Centre will close this Friday at 6pm and horses need to be off the property by this time (unless by prior arrangement). We will re-open for horse return on Sunday, 1 October, between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Please text the Equine phone on 0429 624 928 to let us know if you will be coming.

Horsemanship lessons resume the first full week back in Term 4, which is Monday, 2 October, for lessons with Judy and Tuesday, 3 October, for lessons with Jamie.

We are excited that Junior Horsemanship and Natural Horsemanship start back Term 4 on Wednesday, 4 October, with Judy, as well as Chris and Justin Corbidge. Emails regarding these lessons will come out this week, so please watch your inbox.

We actively welcome new riders to our Horsemanship Program. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any queries via equestrian@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au

In exciting news, Year 8/9 Equine students will be attending their horse-riding camp this term at the beautiful Boomerang Ranch in Daylesford. Here, the students will practice the horseback skills developed during class time, as well as look at the diet and nutrition of working horses. The students are incredibly excited about this opportunity, and we look forward to reporting how we went when we return. If you’d like to take a look at where the students will be on camp, the website is www.boomerangranch.com.au

Finally, a reminder that we are hosting Adam Wooten on 7 October, and tickets are still available - click this link to book yours: https://events.humanitix.com/adam-wooten-clinic

Until next term, happy riding!
