Thank you to all our parents and students who attended interviews with their teachers and mentors this week. We work hard to provide regular opportunities for feedback on student learning as well as connecting with the College community. I enjoy the ideas exchanged in these interviews and the genuine curiosity that parents and students share about their learning and future progress. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s mentor if you ever have a question or concern about their learning and well-being.
This semester, we moved to Continuous Reporting, so assessment grades and feedback will be provided to students on SIMON, and this can be accessed live by parents on the online portal PAM. Our year 12 students will receive an end-of-year report early in term 4 that contains specific exam advice as they prepare for the final VCE examinations. Our students in years 7-11 will receive one of our new look reports at the end of the year. This document will contain an academic transcript, a visual summary of learning progress and a student reflection on learning and a comment crafted with the Mentor and Head of House. We know our teachers at The Hamilton and Alexandra College and are always looking for ways to improve student attention, engagement and learning progress.
Educators continue to debate how we help our young people become future-ready citizens. In my mind, it is vital that our young people value learning, and a positive culture around learning that is open, curious, and equitable. It is reflected in the way they learn, engage with one another, behave on the sporting field, or greet others in the local community. The classroom and the College community is where they will lay the foundations for the future. This will ensure that they take a step into adulthood with the knowledge and skills to be adaptable, resilient, and purposeful young people.
Enjoy the Term 3 break, and I look forward to working with our students and families in the final term of 2023. Please note some minor adjustments to our end-of-year program.
