'CITRUS & GREENS'

Over the last fortnight in our cooking classes, the kitchen was filled with a lovely citrus aroma from our oranges in our kitchen garden! We used the oranges to make scrumptious orange cupcakes.

Next up on the menu was fried rice. We used some fresh greens such as broccoli and chives from our kitchen garden, as well as some eggs from our chickens!

To accompany our declicous fried rice, we also made some kale chips using the beautiful kale that is growing in our kitchen garden. Such a quick and easy recipe that the children enjoyed!

As you can see from the photo below, there were no leftovers! The students really enjoyed their meal, which is great to see!

Wind in the Willows

Badger, Rat, Mole & Toad just some of the characters in our school production this year.

We have been searching for simiiar animals in our school garden and pond.

We know one similiar species would be frogs in our school pond.  Our frogs unlike toads have smooth skin, live mostly in water and leap around rather than walk around.  They also appear a lot smaller than toads.  It was fun trying to discover frogs and tadpoles in our pond.

No luck finding frogs but we found lots of other water creatures like diving beetles, backswimmers & dragon fly nymphs.

SPRING

The garden has come to life with various flowers and part of our prep garden lesson we went on a hunt to find our favourite coloured flower,

Its also been a great season for our citrus trees and we have picked a great number of oranges to add to our recipes.  Some oranges we left too long on our trees and dried up but the smaller ones were very juicy and delicious.

Thank you all for a wonderful term in the garden.  We got through a mild winter and now looking forward to a great Spring.

Well done Gardeners.

Happy Gardening.
