Principal's News

Where every child is known, challenged and supported to be lifelong learners.

Dear St Brigid’s Families and Friends,

Grandparents Day

What a wonderful day our children and grandparents/special persons spent together last Friday.  It was so nice to have our grandparents/special people back in the school after the disruption of COVID. The enjoyment on both the children and grandparents/special people was a joy to see. We had over 140 special people for our Devonshire Tea - a big thank you to the So Fun Team and their band of merry helpers who made the morning tea so welcoming for all.

The children and their special people had such a great time doing the activities that the teachers planned and just hearing the chatter amongst everybody was so lovely!  Many thanks to the staff who put the activities together.

We had some lovely feedback from the community:

Hi Wendy

I just thought I would let you know that my parents said that they absolutely loved today, they thought it was wonderful and really loved the activities and getting to spend that whole time with Eva at her school.  So I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff for putting it together.

Kind regards

Chantel

School Production Rehearsals

Our rehearsals for our school production “Brick to the Future” are coming together very nicely! Micheala from STOMP is doing an amazing job with our students teaching them their dances and our staff are doing an outstanding job practicing with them nearly every day!

It is only 2 weeks until the production and we are so looking forward to seeing the end result! Don’t forget to book your tickets!  Tickets are available through CDFpay.  Adults are $15.00 and children (5 to 18 Years) $10.00.   Parents please note - You do not need to buy a ticket for your St Brigid's child.  Tickets are limited at this stage to 5 per family.  Ticket sales close 9:00am on Wednesday 1st of November.  The concert will take place on Thursday 2nd of November at 7:00pm at St Louis de Montfort School Hall.  Please note seating is not allocated.

Sunscreen

As the weather is slowly starting to warm up children are encouraged to apply their own sunscreen before they arrive at school and if you would like them to reapply before recess and lunch they must bring their own ‘roll on’ sunscreen in their bag to apply again.  Staff are not permitted to apply sunscreen.

Foundation 2024 Parent Information Evening

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our 2024 Foundation students and their families at our Foundation Information Evening.  Our Information Evening is being held on Wednesday 25th October at 7.00pm. This information night is a wonderful opportunity for our families new and old to meet each other and key staff who will work with them in 2024. The Foundation teacher for 2024 has not been decided on as yet, so Suzie and Sarah will be attending the night.

Our Foundation Orientation sessions are as follows:

  • Thursday 9th November - 9.15 - 10.30am
  • Thursday 16th November - 9.15 - 10.30am
  • Thursday 23rd November - 9.15 - 10.30am
  • Thursday 30th November - 9.15 - 10.30am

At the last session on the 30th of November, the children will meet their  teacher for 2024.

Mini Fete - Thursday 26th October - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

How quickly time flies - our Mini-Fete (organisied by the Arts and Culture group) is next week!

The children are very excited to sell and purchase items from the stalls.

  • Foundation - Mystery Jars
  • 1S - Bookmarks
  • 1/2Y - Friendship Bracelets
  • 1/2E - Pom Poms
  • 3/4 - Lollies, Stationery and guess the lollies in the jar
  •  5 - Cupcakes
  • 6D - Carnival games
  • 6C - Mini Golf Putt and Mini Basketball

Could you please make sure children bring in coins to purchase items as we will  not be able to have large floats for each class. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Parents are of course welcome to attend and walk around with their child/ren.

The way the Mini Fete will work is each level will break their children into 3 groups.  We will break the fete time (2-3pm) into 3 x 20 minute sessions.

One group will man the stall, the second group will purchase and the third group will be completing an activity in the classroom. After 20 minutes the rotations will swap.

This will hopefully make the Fete a smooth process.  Thank you for your wonderful support of this initiative by the Arts and Culture Group.

All funds raised from our Mini Fete will be put towards our new school playground!

Running Club

There was a great turn out to running club this week. It was really nice to see the sun shining and also families walking and running with each other.

Laps run = 322

Km run = 16.1km

Total Km = 197.2

We are still on the Hume Fwy/National Hwy near Baddaginnie.   We are 19km away from Benalla.

Kilbreda - Presentation of College Captains

It was a very proud day for St Brigid's on Monday when Alicia Noble - Kilbreda College Captain for 2024 was presented with her College Blazer by Year 7 Student Sophie Donnelly.  Both Alicia and Sophie are St Brigid's Alumni.

Have a wonderful week.
