We have had a busy fortnight at St Mary's College, and there are no signs of stopping just yet, with a number of exciting events planned for the remainder of this term, including the Sustainability Fair this afternoon (Wednesday 13 September) and the Music Gala, to be held tomorrow evening (Thursday 14 September). See our calendar and Take Note for more key dates.
There has been a lot of work done to ensure these events are successful and memorable, and I highly encourage all families in the College community to find some time to attend our events in support of our dedicated students and staff.
The Sustainability Fair promises to be a wonderful showcase of our school's commitment to minimising our carbon footprint through recycling and reduction practices.
A number of sustainability-themed workshops, activities and displays will feature on the College Green from 3.30pm. Guests can also enjoy food stalls, a uniform swap and the launch of the First Nations Garden. We look forward to seeing many of you there, and you never know, you might learn something new too!
All members of our community are warmly invited to attend our Music Gala Night, which will take place in the Nagle Centre on Thursday 14 September from 6.30pm-8.00pm. Bookings can be made online here.
I would like to congratulate all Junior and Senior School students involved in this event as they put the finishing touches on their performances for our entertainment.
I also congratulate and thank our Music staff for their ongoing commitment to helping our young musicians fulfil their musical potential.
The Gala is a great opportunity for students to present their creativity, technique and performance skills and is a night not to be missed!
Please be remined that we will be holding our Kinder to Year 5 Open Morning on Thursday 21 September. Guided tours will be running regularly between 9.00am-10.30am on the day, allowing prospective students and families to experience our Junior School and all it has to offer. More information can be found on our website by clicking this link.
I am continually impressed with the level of participation and enthusiasm displayed by our students, and the Junior Athletics Carnival on Friday 8 September was testament to this. The Domain Athletics Centre was electric with cheers and enthusiasm, and it was terrific to see Year 3-6 students proudly wearing their House colours, competing to their best of their abilities and simply having a go.
