Tips for Smooth Drop-Offs,

Happy Pick-Ups

Just like kinder, it can take a little time for children to settle into a new space. We hope the play sessions and orientation visits have helped them feel familiar with the Galilee area.

Families can say their goodbyes in the nook area outside Galilee and do not enter the learning spaces.

It supports students if you are able to be calm and matter-of-fact about their being at school.  A brief hug, kiss and warm farewell will support a smooth transition into the learning space.

If your child needs a little extra time to separate in the morning, please know this is completely normal for some children. Staff will step aside from the door and support you and your child with calm words and warm reassurance. No one will be rushed.

Staff are not permitted to carry, hug or hold children, but they will guide them gently with their words and gestures.  These are child safety requirements.

When the music and bell go Foundation students move into the learning space and begin their day. Please do not wait at the doors or look through the windows as children who are not as confident are made more anxious by crowds near the entry of the rooms.

Some parents worry their child will be (or remain) distressed. This is very rare. Your children have been successful at Kindergarten and this will also be the case at school. Please know that we will contact you if your child's level of distress is not able to be supported and you will be encouraged to collect them to reset.
