Through fun activities like Emotion Charades and Worries & Wonders, students discovered how the Lighthouse supports calm, confidence, and connection during times of change. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, teamwork, and honest reflections about starting Year 7. We can’t wait to welcome these bright young minds next year as they continue their journey with The King’s College family.

Primary Swimming Lessons

Article by Steven da Silva | Primary Sports Coordinator

During Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 4, our Pre-Primary to Year 6 students took part in Interm swimming, a school-based swimming program for children from Pre-primary to Year 7. It provides quality swimming lessons across the state to ensure children develop vital swimming and water safety skills.  It was wonderful to see their impressive behaviour and enthusiasm as they built confidence and had fun splashing and swimming in the pools. Well done to all of our primary swimmers!

On Wednesday of Week 3, our marvellous mathematicians competed in the AFG Interschool Primary Numero Challenge! Our three teams were made up of Year 4, 5 and 6 students, who have been diligently working on their maths, problem-solving and teamwork skills. We are very proud of the sportsmanship and Christ-like values our students displayed throughout the competition, and they have certainly represented The King’s College with pride.’ - Mrs Natalie Spears and Miss Hannah Girling

‘My favourite part of the competition was the 'scramble’! It was intense but very rewarding when our team combined to do create a fantastic top-take and earn valuable points.' - Puok P (6B)

‘My favourite round was the ’Team Top-Take’ because we could work in a team and rely on each other’s advanced maths skills, but also have fun problem-solving together!’. - Sophia Y (6B)

Primary Etymology Explorers

Our Primary extension spellers have been exploring etymology - the study of word origins and histories! They have been travelling with their passports, researching languages and a variety of words that originated in other parts of the world, but are now used in the English language. They spoke with our resident Afrikaans expert, Mr Babcock, when looking at the origin of the word ‘aardvark’. Keep it up, super spellers!
