On the last week of Term 3, our incredible Year 10s participated in Work Experience Week at The King's College! It was a busy and exciting time for our students. Our dedicated VET Coordinator and Careers Teacher, Daniela Dlugocz, went out and about visiting students across the city. It was fantastic to see our Year 10s thriving in a huge range of industries, from architecture and politics to bubble tea and beauty.

Work Experience Week is all about giving our students a real taste of the world of work. They're not only gaining valuable skills but are also growing in confidence and figuring out what they like—or don't like—about their chosen industries. It's a crucial step in helping them shape their future careers!

Future Directions for Work Experience at The King's College

In 2026, The King's College will no longer run a compulsory Work Experience Week for all Year 10 students. Instead, we are introducing a Year 10 Career Day, featuring guest speakers and industry partners visiting the College. More information about this event will be shared early in 2026.

Students in Year 10 will still have the opportunity to participate in individual work experience placements during their upper high school years. From 2026, the work experience program will be open to students in Years 10–12, with placements during school holidays and exam breaks. Further information will be emailed to the relevant year groups next year.

On 29 October, the Year 7 cohort, along with their mixed emotions, travelled down to Busselton to embark on their first Secondary School camp.

Upon arriving, students were introduced to the staff from Scripture Union Australia. They began to complete their activities and discussion with them, which were primarily based on the theme of Courage, the examples of this we see with Moses and Paul from the Bible, and our Year 7 Mantra from Romans 12:21, which states, 'Do not be overcome with evil but overcome evil with good."

Although the students didn't get much sleep on the first night, they still managed to enjoy the activities and discussions with Scripture Union Australia on all three days at the site, culminating in a screening of 'The Prince of Egypt' on the second evening. Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head home and meet up with their parents, who were excited to see them.

A big thank you to the following staff who gave 110% while we were down there: Damien T'Hart, Grace English, Sharayah Paki, Kane Hayter, Adryan Raman, Gillian Hills, Katie Rasulova, Daniela Dlugocz, Beanne Aguila, Ebony Stanley, Hayley Johnston and Angela Kooper.

The Year 9 students of The King's College recently enjoyed an action-packed camp at Jarrahfall, hosted by Dare Adventures. Blessed with excellent fine weather, the group made the most of every moment outdoors.

Across the three days, students embraced a wide range of challenges and activities designed to build teamwork, resilience, and confidence. Highlights included archery, rock climbing, crate tower challenges, the commando course, mountain biking, and kayaking. In the evenings, students came together for movies, a night trek under the stars, and plenty of laughter and reflection around camp.

The program encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and develop new skills in a fun and safe environment. Teachers and Dare Adventures leaders were proud to see so many students demonstrating Courage, persistence, and cooperation throughout the camp.

Overall, the Year 9 camp was a memorable experience where friendships were strengthened, challenges were embraced, and students returned home with stories to tell and a renewed sense of achievement.

Our incredible Year 10 leaders stepped up on Monday of Week 3 for our Peer Mentor Training Day, and what a day it was! Through hands-on workshops, team challenges, and inspiring discussions, our students developed the skills to support, guide, and uplift their peers—training specifically as Peer Mentors for the incoming Year 7 students in 2026.

From active listening and problem-solving to leadership and empathy, these future leaders left the day equipped to make a real difference in our school community. It's inspiring to see our students not just learning but leading with heart and confidence; ready to serve. A huge shout-out to everyone involved, including Mr Caizley and Mrs Au - our Peer Mentors are ready to shine!

On Monday, 3 November, we had the privilege of welcoming Mrs Jade Lewis to speak with our students on the important topics of Respectful Relationships and Vaping. Jade shared her powerful personal testimony of transformation and God's grace, encouraging students to make wise and values-based choices in their lives. Her message inspired our young people to reflect deeply on the importance of respect, integrity, and faith in shaping their relationships and decisions.

That evening, we also hosted a parent session led by Jade, which focused on staying connected with their children and building strong, faith-filled family relationships. Parents appreciated the practical advice and Biblical insights Jade shared on how to guide and support their children through the challenges of adolescence.

We are sincerely thankful to Jade for her honesty, Courage, and heart for young people, and for reminding our community that through Christ, there is always hope and restoration. For more information about Jade Lewis and her ministry, please visit jadelewis.com.au.

The Year 8.1 Mathematics and Science class visited Murdoch University to take part in a range of engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Students explored real-world applications of Mathematics and Science through interactive experiments and problem-solving activities.

The day provided valuable insight into how these subjects connect to future careers and university study. It was an inspiring opportunity that encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for learning beyond the classroom.
