New plants are thriving (thanks to our students watering them using excess water collected in buckets from the drink taps).

Working Bee: Sunday 28th September:  We had a very successful and enjoyable working bee during the school holidays - it was such a nice opportunity to gather together, contribute and connect!  A huge THANK YOU to all the families who attended-your time, effort and support ensured great progress in this project.  We successfully worked our way through many tasks planned for the day including weeding, planting, raking sand, sanding timber stepping stones and painting a chalk board. Thank you also to the families who attended on a follow up date to complete some tasks to ensure the space was ready for students when they returned from school holidays – it was so nice not to have to partition the area off. The students are loving the fresh new sand and the play spaces!

Initial works - creating three tiers in the sandpit, moving rocks, adding timber stepping stones and replenishing sand....beautiful, clean, fresh sand!  The students (and some staff) are enjoying making new sandcastles and other creations.

We would also like to acknowledge ASQ for supplying us with sand at cost price, enabling us to retain some of our funds for other materials and items for the space – THANK YOU!!

The next step is refining the area with finishing touches including some new grass, adding final pieces and some sensory engaging accessories including a teepee, windchimes, the chalk board, musical instruments, bird feeders and sourcing some new sandpit play equipment as well as storage areas for this equipment.  Stay tuned for any future working bees!
