Koala Classroom

Literacy
In English, our Kinder students have been building their reading fluency, working hard to move past “robot reading” and read more smoothly and naturally. Year 2 has focused on using punctuation to guide their reading expression, learning how to use full stops, commas, and question marks to add pauses and feeling when reading aloud.
The Koala's have been inspired by our book study around pollution, which has led to some fabulous, rich classroom conversations about caring for our environment. All students have been writing and drawing thoughtful pieces exploring why looking after our surroundings is so important.
Maths
Kinder has been focusing on making equal shares and grouping objects, along with daily activities in number identification. We are paying special attention to teen numbers, helping students recognise that these are made up of one ten and some extra ones.
Year 2 students have been developing their problem-solving skills, especially around inverse operations, and are building a strategy bank to help them tackle a variety of word problems with confidence.
