A celebration of our creativity
We’re excited to once again take part in the annual Soul Inspired Art Exhibition, which is a public event that celebrates the artistic talents of Holy Spirit Community School students.
As many of you know, students have been working hard on their art pieces for our upcoming school art show next term. This year, we’re excited to open entries to the entire school community to complete at home. Students are invited to create a free-choice artwork at home and bring it to school for the chance to be featured in this special exhibition. This piece can be a drawing, painting, weaving, sewing, clay etc.
All classes were informed of this exhibition during art lessons this week. Students have been asked to submit their final piece to Sarah before Thursday in Week 10 (25th June). If students are selected to be apart of the exhibition, parents will be emailed with details of the exhibition, including an invitation to the opening afternoon.
We can’t wait to see the creativity our students bring to this year’s exhibit!
Week 7 & 8
Prep
Our Prep students have been busy adding the finishing touches to their clay bees, carefully painting them with yellow and black acrylic stripes. They’ve focused on using steady brush strokes and holding their paintbrushes with control. The bees are looking vibrant and full of personality. Students are proud of their work and can’t wait to showcase them at our upcoming art show.
Year 1 & 2
Students in Years 1 and 2 have completed their clay leaf sculptures by applying a glossy finish to bring out the detail and colour. They are now starting their final art show piece, a woven artwork created using recycled cardboard and a variety of materials. This project challenges them to use the weaving technique creatively while thinking about sustainability.
Year 3 & 4
Our Year 3/4 students have been constructing unique bird feeders from paddle pop sticks. Each student designed their own structure before assembling it with care. The results are both functional and artistic, showcasing impressive creativity and problem solving.
Year 5 & 6
After completing their detailed clay coral reef sculptures, our senior students have begun their final art show project. They are sewing an imperfect fruit or vegetable, inspired by discussions around food waste and how oddly shaped produce is often rejected by supermarkets. Students are learning that beauty and value can be found in imperfections.
